So what is affiliate marketing?
Affiliate marketing is when you agree to promote another
person/s or companies/merchants goods in return for a fixed amount or a percentage of commission if a sale is made.
Below is an example of two goods you could promote as an affiliate marketer.
#1: Physical Goods. These goods are of a physical nature meaning for
example, a camera or golf clubs or it could be a book.
#2: Digital Products. These goods are of a digital nature meaning for example
an e-book, or any other information usually “how-to” type of information that can be instantly accessed and
downloaded via the web after a sale has been completed.
In both these examples the affiliate does not require to have either the
physical or the digital goods to distribute, their primary goal is to drive traffic (potential customers to the
goods they wish to promote). The wonderful thing about being an affiliate marketer is, if for any reason
something was to go wrong and the customer wishes to get their money back this is not the affiliates problem
this is the person or companies/merchants problem which means you won’t have to stress over any unhappy
customers because again your primary task is to bring people to the affiliate product!
Once you have chosen an affiliate product to promote and agreed to the
merchants terms related to your product you will receive marketing material to help you bring potential
customers to the sales page that has the product your promoting. You will also receive a unique affiliate link,
this affiliate link will allow the person or company your promoting for to identify you as the person who made
that sale. Other possible marketing material you may receive is banners they may supply you with different
versions and sizes of the banners that you may pick from, these banners are given to you in code that you
insert into your website or blog within that code will be your unique affiliate link that again identifies you
as the affiliate that made that sale.
The amount of marketing material that you get will vary from one affiliate
program to the next.
Affiliate marketing is a great place for a newbie to get their
internet
income underway and to get started with a work from home
business.
If you're not sure what to promote, it may be a good idea
if you promote a product related to something you are genuinely interested in, such as an
existing hobby
or Interest, in saying that you will need to think about the kind of interests that you have
before you choose something to promote as not all interests have a high demand online, which could make your
choice of product a little hard to find and if you do find something it may not have the kind of results you
will want. If you're not sure subjects (niches) such as "wealth" "health" "love" are always
popular subjects with many related products available for promoting from places like...
One merchant that is well known to
affiliates that supply digital “how-to” type products is clickbank.com and they have products that cover a huge range of “niche” and “sub-niche” subjects,
relating to “wealth” “health” “love” and many others. These products come in the form of digital downloads
such as... MP3, MP4,
and PDF.
But if you’re in a niche such as electrical
products/gadgets that doesn’t require the same urgency then you may want to look at physical goods to
promote as an affiliate in which case amazon.com will be your better suited
choice of merchant.
If you aren’t totally sure what products to
get from where you could also go to offervault.com put in the description of your
“niche” and it will tell you affiliate merchants that offer the kind of products/services you are looking
for.
